2020 – 2021 School Year PRE-K APPLICATIONS

For 3 & 4 Yr Olds  | March 24—May 15, 2020 

 

PROGRAMS

HEAD START

  • 251 Seats Available
  • 3 or 4 years old by September 30th

And one or more of the following:

  • In foster care
  • Homeless
  • Total household income at or below the 100% federal poverty level
  • Qualifying IEP for speech, cognitive or developmental delays
  • Social Security recipient within the household  

Publicly Funded Pre-K

  • 434 Seats Available
  • 4 years old by September 30th

And one or more of the following:

  • In foster care
  • Homeless
  • Total household income at or below the 200% federal poverty level
  • Qualifying IEP for cognitive or developmental delays
  • SNAP or Medicaid eligible
  • At risk of not meeting kindergarten readiness standards

Tuition Based Pre-K seats

  • 35+ Seats Available
  • 4 years old by September 30th

And

  • Child does not qualify for Head Start or publicly funded Pre-K
  • Tuition based seats are made available once all qualifying children have been placed in Head Start and publicly funded seats.
  • Tuition amount is based on a sliding income scale.

Community-Based Type III Child Care Centers*

  • Birth—5 Year Olds
  • For families participating in the Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) 

  

DOCUMENTS NEEDED TO COMPLETE YOUR APPLICATION

  • Child’s birth certificate
  • Child’s immunization record (signed/dated by doctor)
  • Parents’ proof of residence for Ascension Parish (Gas or Electric bill showing service address)
  • Current IEP (If applicable)
  • Proof of income
    • 2 current paycheck stubs for all household members OR Prior year income tax return with all accompanying W-2s
    • AND
    • Pell grant amounts
    • Court-ordered child support
    • SSI benefit letter
    • Current foster care placement agreement

 

All required documents must be submitted for your application to be considered complete. Completed applications do not guarantee placement, as seats are limited and are awarded based on eligibility criteria, not on a first come-first served basis.

  • Because of our current school site closures, parents may not enter school buildings.  Your documents must be submitted to one of the locations listed below or the documents can be uploaded during the application process.

May 15th – June 15th Eligibility Determinations

June 15th – June 30th Parent Notification of Acceptance

 

Applications will continue to be accepted throughout the school year and students will be places as seats become available.
