NEWS MEDIA RELATIONS

The Ascension Parish School Board shall direct all regular news releases to originate in the central office to deliver information to the public system.  The Superintendent or his/her designee shall be the official spokesman to inquiries of the news media.  The Superintendent or his/her designee shall provide research assistance as needed by reporters who are writing features about the schools, whenever possible.

The Superintendent or his/her designee shall hold press conferences as the need for such conferences shall indicate.  The Superintendent shall be the authorized interpreter of Board policy to the public and to the employees of the Board.

Information concerning any present or foreseeable emergencies shall be transmitted to all Board members as necessary.  The Board shall recognize the Superintendent as the sole spokesman of the Board and school district during any emergency.  Questions for information shall be directed to the Superintendent.
