HEAD START PROGRAM
The Ascension Parish School Board, in conjunction with the federal government, operates the Head Start Program for those disadvantaged preschool children living in Ascension Parish needing a wide range of individualized services in the areas of education and early childhood development. The program provides services to not only the children enrolled in the program, but their families as well.
Supervision of the Ascension Parish Head Start Program is vested in the Ascension Parish School Board and delegated to the Head Start Policy Council. All Head Start programs must adhere to the policies of the School Board and federal regulations enumerated in the Head Start Program Performance Standards and Other Regulations, which defines the appropriate services Head Start programs are to provide to the children and families they serve.
