BUDGETING FOR COMPENSATED ABSENCES

 

 

The Ascension Parish School Board shall use the following formula for the calculation of compensated absences liability at June 30 of each fiscal year:

 

 

1.

Personnel with twenty or more years of experience - 100% of unused sick leave up to 25 days per employee.

 

 

2.

Personnel with ten or more years of experience and have reached the age of 60 - 100% of unused sick leave up to 25 days per employee.

 

 

3.

Personnel with fifteen to nineteen years of experience - 40% of aggregate total of unused sick leave up to 25 days per employee.

 

 

4.

Personnel with ten to fourteen years of experience - 20% of aggregate total of unused sick leave up to 25 days per employee.

 

 

5.

Personnel with less than ten years of experience - no liability will be accrued.  It has been the experience of the School Board that minimal exposure has resulted from this group of employees.
