DISTRICT NEWS, A Message from Volunteer Ascension - 2014.07.28A Message from Volunteer Ascension on Ascension’s School Uniform Program

As the school year is coming to an end, we are encouraging parents to donate “gently worn” school uniforms to Volunteer Ascension’s School Uniform Program. Our blue barrels will be out May 22nd –July 21st at the following collection sites: Kean’s the Cleaner (Gonzales and Prairieville), Dutch’s Cleaners, Lejeune’s Cleaners, The Uniform Post and Sac’s Western Store.

This year’s school uniform distribution will take place on the following dates:
EASTSIDE: Wednesday, July 30th from 9-5 at Gonzales Primary School Cafeteria just off Burnside Avenue in Gonzleas.
WESTSIDE (Donaldsonville area) DISTRIBUTION:  Saturday, August 2nd from 9-5 at Donaldsonville High School Cafeteria

(To qualify, please bring parent/guardian photo idea and social security cards for all children. Must also have Medicaid cards or food stamp printout.)

DISTRICT NEWS, Stuff the Bus with School Supplies - Wed. July 16 - 2014.06.24

Attn: Volunteers...It’s Time to STUFF THE BUS!

Thanks to our amazing volunteers, last year we were able to collect, sort and load nearly 60,000 school supplies in ONE DAY!  Then, 75 people showed up the following day to do it all again as we UNSTUFFED the bus at Central Middle!  You guys are the best!!  We could not do this without you!!

Below is information on this year’s event!

New-ONLINE VOLUNTEER SIGN-UP!  Follow this link!!  https://volunteerascension.volunteermatrix.com/  Once you get there, choose the event and time you’d like.  Let us know if you are signing up individually or if you’re registering for your group, THEN proceed to New Volunteer Registration!  Shifts start at 6 a.m. and run until 6 p.m.  Remember, it’s on a FIRST COME BASIS…the morning shifts will go VERY QUICKLY!

People ask what items we need most...Essentially, any basic school supply will help.

However, we never seem to get enough of these items:
-- Binders (1 & 2 inch), Dry Erase Markers , Construction Paper and Dividers.

The other more common supplies needed are:
-- Colored Pencils, Markers, Pocket Folders, Compass,  Protractor, Rulers, Loose Leaf Paper (wide ruled), Glue (Stick and Liquid), Index Cards, Black & White Composition Books, Pencils/ Pens, Scissors, Book Bags, Crayons and Notebooks.

The children of Ascension appreciate your support!

DISTRICT NEWS, Spring 2014 Results for LEAP, iLEAP, and LAA2 - 2014.05.20Dear Parents & Guardians –

Ascension Parish Public Schools received LEAP, iLEAP, and LAA2 test results for students late yesterday evening from the Louisiana State Department of Education. The scores were released later than originally anticipated; however, our schools are processing the results today. Please be advised that all schools will be sending test scores home with students today. If in the event that your child or children would need remediation, please complete the LEAP Summer School Permission Response Form and return it to school tomorrow, Wednesday, May 21, 2014.
